Late News 01/01 Pendeen: 1 Balearic Shearwater past from from 09:30 – 10:00. (A Hartley)

Late News 01/01 St Ives: 3+ Balearic Shearwater, 1 Great Skua and 100’s of gulls & auks attracted to a shoal of bait fish off the Island. (A Hartley)

Late News 01/01 Loe Beach Feock: 25+ Black-necked Grebe, 1 Great-crested Grebe, 5 Little Grebe, 9 Red-breasted Merganser and 1 Great Northern Diver. (B Toms)

Late News 01/01 Godrevy: 3 Balearic Shearwater, 400 Gannet, 310 Shag, 150 auk sp, 200 Kittiwake feeding close inshore. Also 38 Oystercatchers and 3 Stonechat. (P St Pierre)

Late News 01/01 Marazion: Water Pipit on the beach again.

Late News 01/01 Helston: 2 Firecrests at the sewerage works.

Marazion Marsh RSPB: 1 Little Egret, 4 Grey Heron, 2+ Cormorant, 4 Mute Swan, 23 Teal, 6 Mallard, 14 Moorhen, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Water Rail and 1+ Cetti’s Warbler. 23 Sanderling, 1 Dunlin and 5 Curlew on the beach. Falmouth, Castle Beach: 4 Black Redstart (2 male, 2 female), 1 Grey Wagtail, 10 Turnstone and 17 Oystercatcher. (J St Ledger)

Helston Loe Pool: 3 Great Crested Grebes, 2 female Goosander, 4 Goldeneye and 58 Pochard. (D Eva)

College Reservoir: 2 Mute Swan, 220+ Wigeon, 7 Shoveler (4m, 3f), 6 Goldeneye (1ad m), 32+ Tufted Duck, 13 Pochard, 1 m Gadwall, 2 Grey Heron, 4+ Cormorant, 2 Bittern, 10+ Snipe, 4 Little Grebe, 3 Moorhen, 40+ Coot, 30+ Herring Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Common Gull, 10+ Black-headed Gull, 2 Chiffchaff (probably abietinus?) and 2 Redwing. Hannafore: 1 f Black Redstart, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Firecrest, 1 f Blackcap, 2 Med Gull (ad, 2W), 11 Common Scoter, 3 Slavonian Grebe and 1 Great Northern Diver. (G Lewis)Wacker Quay: 1 ad Spoonbill, 2 f Pintail, 57 Avocet and a small race of Canada Goose with Canada flock. “Dark plumaged bird with very tiny bill and short neck. Size similar to Shelduck. Par: Ad drake Ring-necked Duck and the Little Gull were still present at Par beach pool this morning, plus Tufted Duck, 1 Shoveler, 3 Teal, 1 Shelduck, 19 Snipe, Oystercatcher, 1 male Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel and 1 Grey Heron. Also at Spit Beach 2 female and one male Black Redstart on the rock pile. (N Climpson & W Delacour)

Helston: 1 Firecrest and 5 or 6 Chiffchaff, at least one being greyer than others at the sewage works. (D Jenkins) 2 Siberian Chiffchaffs reported in the afternoon.

Stithians Reservoir:1 m and 4 f Reed Bunting under the feeders at the S cut off and 4 Redwing flew past. Gadwall in with Wigeon and approx 170 Lapwing on the main Res and a large flock of Redwing in hedge at the North cut off. (D Jenkins)
