Late News 08/02 Walmsley Sanctuary (CBWPS Members Only):18 Black-tailed Godwit, 12 Dunlin, 40+ Curlew, 60+ Lapwing, 1 Merlin (photo probable 1W male) 1 drake Goldeneye, 2 Gadwall, 6 Pintail, 13 Shoveler, presumed Common Pochard/Ferruginous Duck hybrid (distant photo, towards the back of the reserve) and 4 Chiffchaff. Marazion Marsh RSPB: 1 Bittern, 1 Little Egret, 14 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant, 4 Mute Swan, 105 Teal, 15 Mallard, 3 Wigeon, 4 Shoveler, 2 Gadwall, 1 Coot, 21 Moorhen, 2+ Little Grebe, 3+ Water Rail, 9 Snipe, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Stonechat, 8 Chiffchaff and 1 Cetti’s Warbler. Penryn River: 80+ Curlew, 20+ Teal, 10+ Mallard, 30+ Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 3 Knot, 11 Turnstone and 8+ Mute Swan at Gorrangorras over high tide. (D Chaney)

Falmouth: 2 Med Gulls (ad & 2W) patrolling Pendennis, Razorbill distantly and 2 Purple Sandpiper on the point. Harbour Porpoise briefly towards St Anthony Head. Castle Beach held the male Black Redstart, and two Whimbrel. (D Chaney)

Feock: 81 Black-necked Grebes from Loe beach this afternoon. (A county record?) Also 47 Red-breasted Merganser, 5 Goldeneye and 1 Great Northern Diver. (B Mellow)

Temple: Great Grey Shrike this evening, mobile between west side of the hamlet and the private fishing lakes. Please do not block single track roads or passing places. There is parking at the picnic area SX 133725 off westbound A30. Do not enter private land. (B Craven)

St Gothian Sands LNR: 1 drake Ring-necked Duck still this afternoon. (W Renshaw secretcornwall)

Newlyn: 2W Iceland Gull again in the harbour at 15:00.

Bodmin Moor: Long-eared Owl this evening.
