Late News 01/5 Hell’s Mouth: From a minimum of 32 Cormorant eggs, approx only 9 chicks survive. 3 Shag nests have also failed at egg stage. The Raven continues to sit on 3 eggs. (S Taylor)

Late News 02/5 Goonhilly: An adult female Marsh Harrier drifted overhead early afternoon, circled over the downs for c10 mins, then drifted South. (C Benton)

Late News 02/5 Lizard Point/Caerthillian: 17 Wheatear, 2 Sedge Warbler, 6+ Whitethroat and 1 Blackcap. (C Benton)

Late News 02/5 Church Cove (Gunwalloe): 6 Sand Martin over the reed beds, but none at the colony in the cliffs, many Reed Warbler singing from the reeds (no Cettiā€™s heard), c50 Whimbrel in a cliff top field and 2 Wheatear on the golf course. (C Benton)

Late News 03/5 Lizard Point/Caerthillian area: 22+ Wheatear, 1 male Whinchat in corner of ploughed field with Wheatears, 1 Cuckoo at the bottom of Caerthillian, 1 Short-eared Owl c19:00 quartering fields around the top of Caerthillian and c120 Whimbrel together in cliff top fields above Pentreath, and other parties of up to c30 seen. Late News 03/5 Goonhilly: 1 Short-eared Owl quartering near Croft Pascoe plantation c19:45, drifted away N. (C Benton)

Late News 04/5 Kynance Downs (from Mile End to Soap Cove and back around): 1 Spotted Flycatcher in sallows at Mile End, 1 Hobby at the top of the valley at Soap Cove, sat on a fencepost for 10mins, then drifted off NW, 1 Peregrine, regular parties of Swallows moving N across the downs; total in the hundreds, c20 Willow Warbler, c10 Chiffchaff, c20 Whitethroat, 7 Blackcap, 5 Sedge Warbler, 2 Grasshopper Warbler reeling, 13 Wheatear and 2 Cuckoo seen together near Windmill Farm, same/others heard across the downs. Late News 04/5 Goonhilly: 7 Swift, 1 female Peregrine, 1 Cuckoo and 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker in plantation. (C Benton)

Late News 04/5 Stithians Reservoir:Nests of Long-tailed Tit, Chaffinch and Canada Goose have all failed, presumably due to the weather. (S Taylor)

Marazion Marsh RSPB: 7 Grey Heron, 4 Mute Swan, 4 Canada Geese (plus 4 goslings), 2 Greylag, 2 hybrid geese, 7 Mallard, 2 Coot, 9 Moorhen, 1 Cormorant, 13 Whimbrel, pair of Sparrowhawk displaying, c10 Swift, c60 Swallow, c80 Sand Martin, c25 House Martin, 2 Wheatear, 1 Reed Bunting, Chiffchaffs, Reed Warblers, Sedge Warblers and 3 Cetti’s Warbler. Also a Jackdaw with a Slow Worm which was seen to shed it’s tail and escape. (D Parker)

Walmsley Sanctuary (CBWPS Members Only): 4+ Ruff, 26 Black-tailed Godwit, 61 Whimbrel, 2 Lapwing, 1 Snipe, 5 Dunlin, 1 Redshank, 3 Gadwall, 2 Wigeon, 2 Teal, male Sparrowhawk, 100 Swift, c500 Swallow, 300+ Sand Martin and 50 House Martin. (D Eva & C Selway)

Lizard: There was a small passage of Blackcaps and Willow Warblers at Pistil Meadows, and a Black Redstart on the building opposite the Witchball restaurant in Lizard village. (R Hooper et al.)


Penzance: 16 Purple Sandpipers on the Lighthouse Quay plus m and f Eider off the promenade (Sennen Cove Birdwatching)

Landrake: Osprey flew over Haylake Farm at 17:20.
