Late News 18/01 Helston: Whooper Swan on Helston boating lake. (P Dinning)

Marazion Marsh RSPB: 6 Mute Swan (including 4 juv), 6 Mallard, 23 Teal, 3 Little Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Water Rail, 16 Moorhen, 1 Coot, c20 Snipe, 1 Stonechat and 1 Cetti’s Warbler. (D Parker) Bittern flew from Longrock pool to Marazion main marsh at 10:40. (M & T Hasdell) 2 Bitterns reported.

Penzance: Male Black Redstart on the rocks at the bottom of Chyandour, drake Eider, 2 Great Northern Divers and Guillemot offshore.(D Parker) Probable Pacific Diver late afternoon but distant. (M Elliot)

Hayle Estuary RSPB: A Common Tern at west end of Copperhouse Creek viewed from Philp’s Pasties 12:00 – 12:45 at least, also getting on Carnsew Pool, also Black Swan on Copperhouse Creek. (P Smale & J Swift)

Marazion: Tawny Owl calling early evening. (D Parker) Probable Black-throated Diver offshore.

Connor Downs: The Turtle Dove still around in the morning at a private garden, although it has been spooked and bullied a bit by local Collared Doves! (L Spence)

Bude Marsh: 150+ Canada, 4 Pink-Footed Goose, 1 White-fronted Goose, 1 Barnacle Goose, 50 Teal, 35 Curlew and 2 Grey Heron, also 23 Oystercatcher and 42 Lapwing on the rugby pitch. (R Mudge)

St Ives Bay: 3 Balearic Shearwaters, 3 Red-throated Divers, 2 Fulmar, 1 Eider, 12 Turnstone, 16+ Cormorants, 100’s Razorbills and 8 Oystercatcher from 08:30-16:00. Also 6+ Bottlenose dolphins (1240-1310) playing energetically on north side of Island ranging between 50 m and further offshore. 5 Bottlenose (1515-1605) swimming sluggishly 200 m off watchpoint, headed out into centre of bay, turned back towards us and swam out past the NCI headland. Newlyn:  Great Northern Diver still in harbour. Tagged Dolphin/Porpoise carcass on slipway near RNLI shed. (S Maycock) Also Black-necked Grebe still present and Black Redstart at Sandy Cove.

Drift Reservoir (members only): c50 Canada Geese in the fields with 1 Greylag and 1 hybrid. (S Maycock)

Pentewan Sands: 2 Black Redstart (m & f). (D Wright)

Helston Sewage Works: 12 Chiffchaff and 1 Firecrest. (D Wright)

St Gothian Sands LNR: 3 Shoveler still present. (F Hull)

Stithians Reservoir: 9 Goldeneye including 3 drakes, 6 Shoveler, 13 Pochard, 1 Long-tailed Duck, 46 Tufted Duck, 6 Teal, 8 Coot, 2 Wigeon, 3 Cormorant, 2 Mallard, 2 Great Black-backed Gull, single Common Gull, Pied Wagtail, Water Rail, Snipe and Song Thrush from the Stuart Hutchings hide. 2 Chiffchaffs working along the Willows opposite the hide were possibly the Siberian Chiffchaffs reported from the cut-off, but were too distant to call. Dunveth Road, Wadebridge: 1 Tawny Owl. (D Julian)

Rosenannon Downs: 1 male Hen Harrier. (P Barlow & R Davey, per D Julian)

Kenidjack: 1 Siberian Chiffchaff and 1 Firecrest at the sewerage works.

St Just: Western Subalpine Warbler still in gardens around Princess Street TR19 7JG. Please respect the residents privacy.

Carbis Bay: Probable Arctic Tern at mid day.

Gannel Estuary: Dark-bellied Brent Goose still off the car park.

Feock: 8 Black-necked Grebes off Loe Beach.
