Proposed Wind Turbine at Stithians Reservoir

You may have seen notices in the hides at Stithians about a proposed wind turbine at Lower Lancarrow farm, VERY near the Golden Lion cut-off. I went to an objectors meeting on Friday at the farm next door and was told that the planning application has gone in and individuals should now send in objections. This huge thing would be 77 metres to the tip (same as Truro Cathedral) and have a 54 metre blade span. The base will be 500 to 600 metres  behind the scrub at the back of the cut-off and will be lethal to herons, buzzards you name it.

To object write to Glenn Lowe, Senior Development Officer, Planning and Regeneration, Cornwall Council, Dolcoath Ave. Camborne, TR14 8SX.

You can e-mail objections, but we have been advised by a planning lawyer that letters carry more weight. The e-mail though is

Objections must be in within 14 days.

The criteria for objecting are very restricted, so stick to the impact on birds and wildlife and its proximity to the site. Get others to do the same!

Roger Hooper.
