Falmouth, Castle Beach: 1 Grey Phalarope, 1 Little Auk, 1 Great Northern Diver, 3 Black-throated Diver, 3 Red-necked Grebe, 1 Slavonian Grebe, 1 Whimbrel, 1 f Black Redstart, 1 m Stonechat, 6 Rock Pipit, 1 Grey Wagtail, 3+ Pied Wagtail, 2 Meadow Pipit, and 1 Curlew. From Swanpool Beach: 1 Red-necked Grebe,1 Black-throated Diver  and 1 Great Northern Diver plus many Shag, some Gannet,  Guillemot and Kittiwake. Ringing report: One of the Great Black-backed Gull chicks ringed on Looe Island on 24/06/13 has been sighted in Spain. L:BB9 was reported on 29/12/13 at Nemiña beach, Muxía, A Coruña NW Spain (43.00N – 9.16W). This is a movement of 893km and is only the 2nd bird from the Looe project recorded in Spain. Marazion Marsh RSPB: 2 Mute Swan, 1 Canada Goose, 78 Teal, 38 Mallard, 1 Shoveler, 1 Wigeon, 1 Cormorant, 1 Bittern, 1 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Water Rail, 9 Moorhen, 2 Buzzard (1 plucking a Teal), 1 Kestrel, 2 Snipe and 1 Stonechat. (DK Parker & R Beddard)

St Ives Bay: Summary of sightings today (2/1/14) from 08:15-17:00: 2-4 Balearic Shearwater, 1 Manx Shearwater, 9 Great Northern Diver, 7 Bottlenose Dolphin, 1 Harbour Porpoise, 1-2 Common Seal, 2 Black Redstart (male and female), 1 Blackcap (male), 1 Kestrel, 4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Purple Sandpiper, 12 Turnstone, 10 Oystercatcher. No feeding events but good nos of Guillemots (~1000), Gannets (~50), Gulls (Herring, Greater Black-backed) (700) and Kittiwake (100), Shag (~100) were observed throughout the day, speculatively searching for food but mainly resting or roosting. A pod of 6 Bottle-nose Dolphins were seen at 9:50 and later throughout the day from 11:30 there was either groups of 3 and 4 of 5 and 2 – mainly seen off of Gwithian beach and commuting nw across the central portion of the bay and past the watch point.A single Harbour Porpoise followed the main channel northwards past the watch point at 14:00 On 4 occasion singles of Balearic Shearwaters were seen circling around the bay and heading west, although a pair were seen heading east mid afternoon. 1 Manx Shearwater also moved west across the bay and past watchpoint and then past Clodgy Point.An evening roost gathering of ~800 birds in Carbis Bay in fading light comprised mainly of Herring Gulls, with ~20 Greater BB, 30 Shags and 10 Gannets.
