St George’s Island, Looe: Sightings from the island during Cornwall Seal Group survey: 3 ad Grey seals, 1 Skylark, 3 Slavonian Grebe, 1 Red-throated Diver, 3+ Great Northern Diver, (also 3 distant unidentified flying diver sp), 1 m Eider, 1 Razorbill, 4 Guillemot, 1 Gannet, 33 Fulmar, many Great Black-backed gulls (one ad quite oiled underneath), many Herring Gulls, 2 Black-headed gull, 3+ Water Rail, 1 Whimbrel, 2 Curlew, 3 Oystercatcher, 1 Little Egret, Cormorants, 22+ Shags, 3 Mallard, 1 m Sparrowhawk, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest, 2 Pied Wagtail, 3 Goldfinch, 1 Song Thrush, 3+ Blackbird, 1 Woodpigeon, 5 Carrion Crow, Rock pipits, 3+ Dunnock and many singing Wrens. One large trawler several miles away to the SW, visible amidst a dramatic dense squawl of rain, with 100’s of seabirds like a white blizzard all around it. (R Hurrell)
