Rock Pipits: Reports seem mixed. Last week Roy Phillips reported very few along his local patch, just one breeding pair, Bosigran to Porthmeor Cove, (west coast of west Penwith), whilst Phil McVey reports “I’ve observed young being fed at (usual) sites on the North Coast, including Polzeath, Porth Mear, Park Head, Watergate Bay and Newquay Porth”. Today we also have a report of young being fed in Mousehole, (Simon Maycock). My own observations around Newlyn harbour and Mounts Bay would also suggest there hasn’t been a significant crash here. So, it could just be that the area where the pipits were hardest hit was the area of exposed coast around west Penwith.
