How many Hoopoes? One estimate suggests 5+ in the St Levan, Porthgwarra, Polgigga, Lands End, Nanquidno, add to these the ones in St Erth, The Lizard and Redruth (yesterday), and how many more will be found this weekend?

The Lizard:Hoopoe in gardens along the bridleway north of the green (SW703127) this morning, still present at 17.30 (D Eva). Also Wryneck in private garden in village. (M Grantham, T Blunden) Plus 1 Redstart, 1 Little Ringed Plover and 20+ Song Thrush, including one feeding young in nest. (T Blunden)

Polgigga: 1 Hoopoe on cricket pitch this morning and still present this evening. (B Field) later 2 Hoopoe present. (M Wallace) Also 1 Fieldfare and 5 Song Thrush. (D Jenkins, S Rowe)

Towednack, Rosewall Hill: 5 Ring Ouzel, 6 Wheatear, 2 Stonechat (pr), 2 Meadow Pipit, 5 Song Thrush, 2 Kestrel, 2 Common Buzzard, 6 Linnet, 7 Starlings and 6 Blackbird. (J Hawkey, V Stratton, J St Ledger)

Kenidjack: 17 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Warbler, 4 Blackcap (2m & 2f), Common Buzzard caught toad or frog beside pond and had lunch on nearby mine ruin, 1 pair Long-tailed Tit nest building, 2 Greenfinch and 4 Goldfinch. (J Hawkey) 1 Sedge Warbler. (J Swann)

St Gothian Sands LNR: 1 Little Ringed Plover and 1 m Yellow Wagtail. (A McKechnie, B Dodd) Also 1 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, 1 m Gadwall, 4 Shelduck, 4+ Wheatear, plus Coot, Moorhen, Mute Swans, Canada Geese and quantities of Herring, Lesser Black-backed and Great Black-backed Gulls. (J Lander)
