Late news, 18th August, Looe Island: 1 Grey Heron, 9 Little Egret, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Fulmar chick ready to fledge, 1 Black-headed Gull, 50+ Great Black-backed Gull, 7 Oystercatcher, 20+Herring Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 20+ Cormorant, 12 Shag, 1 Pheasant, 5 Woodpigeon, 4 Rock Pipit, plus at least 20 Gannet diving offshore to the south.

Praa Sands to Godolphin: 1 Jay, 4 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, flock of 10 Raven, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Green Woodpecker, numerous Swallow and House Martin. Also 1 Small Copper, 10 Common Blue, 20 Green Veined White, 1 Comma and 1 Brimstone. (J Evans)

Treen, Logan Rock:  14:00 (when I arrived ) to 17:00. Thousands of Manx Shearwater, in feeding rafts from The Runnel Stone to Tater Du and far out to sea. In over seventy years of observing Manx Shearwater here I have never before seen so many together. I couldn’t begin to count them as they passed to and fro. Also a few hundred Gannet (others passing), 5+ Kittiwake and two 1w Little Gull feeding inshore. Possibly other species  (no ‘scope) and a small pod of c10 Common Dolphin. (NR Phillips)
