Late news, 10 & 11/11, Millbrook: On 10/11 there were birds dropping into Millbrook Pond all day and then moving west up the valley. On 11/11 I did 10 minute counts hourly between 09:00 and 14:00 each time counting 250 -300 gulls, mostly Herring Gull but with some Lesser Black-backed Gull and Black-headed Gull. There was constant stream overhead all day. Adding up for the day and at a conservative estimate there was probably 10,000 gulls moving through over the weekend. All were heading W to NW. Never witnessed a movement like this in the 12 years we’ve been here. (B Taggart)
