Friday 18th January 2019

Lost yesterday: Owing to an astonishing piece of carelessness, I left my Swarovski ‘scope on its Velbon carbon fibre tripod on the concrete walkway overlooking the sea near Penzance Sailing Club for about ten minutes this morning. On realising my stupidity and returning, it had gone. I went in search of it and, at the second-hand shop at the bottom of town, I was told that a ‘rough sleeping man’ had attempted to sell it there. I found no further trace of it. If anyone tries to sell you this, please would you contact me or the police at Camborne Police Station? (I am willing to pay a reward for its return.) Roger Butts, (
