Stithians Reservoir: further to problems we’ve been having with vandalism recently a decoy chain was put up on the gate to the Stuart Hutchings Hide last weekend and probably will go up this weeked too. Please replace as found (ie so the gate appears locked) when you leave the hides. If we go for a combination lock we will try and give advance warning and circulate the code number appropriately (eg in the website members’ area).Thanks.

Fal/Ruan Complex: 403 Canada Geese, 1 white farmyard-type Goose with them (as last year), 116 Curlew, 1 Green Sandpiper, 4 Common Sandpiper, 11 Oystercatcher, 12 Mallard, 6 Little Egret, 3 Buzzard. Observed 17:00-18:00 on the rising tide. (D Hall)

Late News, 14/07, The Lizard: Grey Phalarope seen from boat off Lankidden Cove nr Coverack around 8:00hrs, then flew inward towards the cliff.

Late News, 14/07, Poldhu Cove: 2 Ortolan Bunting (m and f) reported below Sand Martin cliffs briefly.

Porthgwarra: 1 Wilson’s Storm Petrel at 9:10 am feeding on and off for c3 minutes from the cove. Also 8 Sooty Shearwater, 3 Storm Petrel, 4 Puffin, 1 Common Scoter, 3 Mediterranean Gull 0730-1100. (R Veal, R Augarde, R Wilkins) Later, c30 Common Scoter, 2 Great Shearwater (15:35 & 17:45), 1 Sooty Shearwater, Manx Shearwater passing 1,000-1,500 per hour and 2 Puffin between 15:00 & 18:00. Mousehole: Wilson’s Storm Petrel reported c2.5km to south from pelagic this morning, also c20 Storm Petrel and 1 ad Arctic Skua. (Mermaid III + M Elliot)

Loe Pool: 2 Kingfisher, 31+ Sand Martin, c16 Reed Warbler, 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 1 Sparrowhawk, 12 Great Crested Grebe plus one chick, 7 ad Mallard + 19 full-grown ducklings, 2  ad and 2 young hybrid Mallard, 4 Grey Heron (3 ad, 1 imm). Plus 1 Stoat at Lower Degibna and 1f Beautiful Demoiselle at Carminowe near the stream. (G Adams)
