Gulval: Swallows have nested in my garage since 2014 with varying degrees of success influenced by weather and food supply. The only ones in the village. This year the male arrived on 5th April followed by the female on the 8th. Several days were spent feeding with periodic repairs to last years nest. The first egg was laid on 25th April and a full clutch of 5 noted on 1st May. Hatching started on 12th May and the first fledged on 3rd June. By the 4th June four were on the wing leaving just one still in the nest. Today 5th June all five successfully took to the air. Interestingly when the parents first arrived they were briefly joined by a third and again on the 12th May  (the day the brood hatched) a third swallow appeared and allowed into the garage suggesting a sibling from a previous year!
