It was a nice dry autumn day for our CBWPS/SWLT joint bird walk at College and Argal Lakes on Sunday. The group ranged from seasoned bird watchers to people trying it for the first time, which was great. The walk took us all the way round Argal and along the pathway into the College Lake Nature Reserve, covering a whole range of habitats – woodland, open water, grassland, farmland and willow carr. With the help of CBWPS expert Dan Chaney, we identified over 40 species including some nice ducks and waterfowl such as Wigeon, Pochard and Great Crested Grebe, as well as woodland favourites and even an elusive Yellow-browed Warbler.
The walk even made the local press: falmouthpacket -bird-walk-at-argal-and-college-reservoirs
Thanks to everyone who came along, we will definitely be running something similar next year.
