Late news, 30/7, White Cross, Newquay: 4 Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk, 3 Yellowhammer, (males calling) 150+ finches (mixed flock of Greenfinch, Linnet and Chaffinch). 2 Skylark, 1 Whitethroat, 1 pair Spotted Flycatcher + 3 young, 3 Blackcap, 3 Robin, 4 Blackbird, 8 Blue Tit, 6 Great Tit, 2 Coal Tit, 8 Chaffinch, 3 Bullfinch, 2 Dunnock, 9 Swallow, 6 Swift and 3 Wren. Also 4 Holly Blue, 5 Red Admiral, 5 Peacock, 3 Tortoiseshell, 3 Speckled Wood butterflies. (D Thomas)

Late news, 30/7, Porth Reservoir, Newquay: 5 pair Great Crested Grebe with 6 young, 6 Moorhen + 4 young, 30+ Mallard, 3 Cormorant, 2 Kingfisher on the dam wall, 2 Reed Warblers singing at far end in the reed bed, 3 Sedge Warbler + 5 young, 1 Tawny Owl calling, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Nuthatch and 50 + Swallow on overhead wire.
