Flushing rare birds: the juvenile Purple Heron which had taken up residence for the last couple of weeks in the reedbed at Sett Bridge was flushed yesterday by a birder walking up through the habitat. That heron hasn’t been seen today at all. This should be a reminder to us all to respect all wildlife, give them their space, and if you want to see a rarity just be a little more patient, don’t go charging in. (tdm)
