Late news, 8/5, Scillonian, Lands End to Penzance: 3 Puffin, 223 Manx Shearwater, 49 Gannet, 18 Guillemot, 2 Razorbill, 5 Fulmar, 55 unidentified distant auks 55. Virtually all the shearwaters and other seabirds were heading West along the coast. Surprised to see several large groups of up to 10 auks together flying in a tight string of birds. Also 2 small waders rapidly passed the boat probably a mile+ offshore also heading West. Mounts Bay: 1 Great Northern Diver. Battery Rocks: 9 Purple Sandpiper (feeding, resting and preening) , 2 Whimbrel on the small island, 2 Turnstone and 1 Grey Heron flew past. Penzance: 2 Swift.
