Drift Reservoir: Little Egret, Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, Med Gull and I inadvertently flushed a Common Buzzard from a large fish at the shoreline before I could get my camera on it this afternoon. It stayed overlooking the carcass from the nearby post for the hour I was there, unperturbed by visiting Carrion Crow & Cormorant(!), both of which took a few pecks at the dead fish, before rain sent me home. Late submission, 18/9, Millpool (private garden): 5 House Martins flying and feeding quite low at approx 18.30, heard Jay and Green Woodpecker a few moments apart at at same point in the evening plus Hummingbird Hawkmoth feeding on Verbena bonariensis flowers at the same time. Around 3pm Southern Hawker female flew through, Common Darter pair (female ovipositing in pond). (M Claughton)
