Stithians Reservoir: further to problems we’ve been having with vandalism recently a decoy chain was put up on the gate to the Stuart Hutchings Hide last weekend and probably will go up this weeked too. Please replace as found (ie so the gate appears locked) when you leave the hides. If we go for a combination lock we will try and give advance warning and circulate the code number appropriately (eg in the website members’ area).Thanks.

Land’s End: Great White Egret flew from Swingates at 09:30 then dropped in again at 09:45 but could not be relocated. Also 3+ Yellow-browed Warbler, c6 Brambling, 8 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, 9 Firecrest, 8 Goldcrest, 1 male Black Redstart, 80+ Linnet, 2 Reed Bunting, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Chough, 12 Golden Plover and 5 Snipe. Late news, 30/10, Polgigga: 1 Short-toed Lark & 2 Lapland Buntings in field W of path between Bosistow & Higher Bosistow farms. Possible Sykes’s Wagtail (beema) briefly on roof of Higher Bosistow farm, also 2 Black Redstarts.

Land’s End: 1 Dusky Warbler, 1 juv Rose-coloured Starling, 1 Short-eared Owl, Merlin and Red Kite over. (S Rogers et al.)

Kenidjack: 2 Yellow-browed Warbler, 3 Fieldfare and 15 Chough. (S Rogers et al.) Also 1 Radde’s Warbler (heard only).

Hayle Estuary RSPB: 1 juv Spoonbill, 1 2w Ring-billed Gull, 3+ Med Gull and 3+ Bar-tiled Godwit on Lelant Saltings. 1m Bullfinch and 5+ Grey Wagtail on Ryan’s Field.. 7+ Little Grebe and 2 Kingfisher on Carnsew Basin. (R Veal)

Nanquidno: 1 Firecrest, 6 Redwing and 3 Crossbill. Chough seen everyday between 3rd & 17th always a local pair on 4 days with a third bird. Maximum counts 9 on 3rd, 13 on 4th, 9 on 6th, 7 on 12th including 1 un-ringed bird, 6 on 15th. (A Rosier)
