Late News 30/12/12 Coverack: 6 Black-throated Diver, including a party of 4 fishing collaboratively, 4 adult Mediterranean Gulls, including one with green plastic ring R16X on right leg and 30 Great Black-backed Gulls, including a first-winter with white plastic ring LAV6 on right leg. (D Wood)
The Med Gull R16X was ringed as a chick on 15/06/2009 at Oye Plage, Les Huttes d’Oye, Pas-de-Calais (50,59N 2,03E). It’s since been seen at Gillan Creek on 13/02/2010, back in Pas-de-Calais on 22/04/2011, at Coverack on 27/07/2012 and 27/09/2012 and at Men-Aver beach on 09/10/2012. (per M Grantham)

St Just: Probable 1w Subalpine Warbler seen very briefly in private gardens in Pleasant Terrace. Please respect the privacy of the residents. So far all that has been noted in the field given the poor brief views and restricted access is that it is a small sylvia warbler with pale legs and other features suggesting Subalpine but not fully nailed yet!

Trenow: 12 Bar-tailed Godwit, 10 Dunlin, 5 Oystercatcher, 1 Redshank, 1 Little Egret, 1 Curlew, 1 Peregrine (which took one of the oystercatchers), 1 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard and Chiffchaff. (R Menari)

Carnon Downs: 1 Yellow-browed Warbler, 1 Firecrest, 8 Goldcrest, 3 Grey Wagtail and 1 Sparrowhawk at the sewage works. (J St Ledger)

Walmsley Sanctuary (CBWPS Members Only):6 Tufted Duck, 10 Pintail (5 male and 5 female), 10 Gadwall, Teal, Shoveler, large flock of Wigeon and also Lapwing, Curlew, 5 Black-tailed Godwit, Coot, Moorhen, Little Grebe, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard and a female Merlin that was present for several hours using the fence posts and raptor posts to dart out after prey (unsuccessfully), Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail Chiffchaff, Grey Heron, Little Egret and Canada Geese. Cot Valley: 1 Firecrest.

Nanquidno: 2 Woodlark at Little Hendra.

Hayle Estuary RSPB: 2W Kumlien’s Gull from the causeway.

Marazion: Water Pipit still at Red River mouth.
